About Surber’s Windows and Doors
In 1980 Surber’s Windows and Doors was formed (originally named Anderson Stove Shop) a family business started by Kenny and Janet Surber. The business idea originated from the need to better heat and cool their own home. In 1980, the first product was a high efficient wood burning stove and ornamental storm doors. Throughout the years they started looking at other home improvements which could help consumers reduce their energy needs.
In 1984, they brought on steel insulated entrance doors and vinyl replacement windows. Even though they focused on the best quality product, they understood installation was the key. They focused on employee based installation service instead of sub-contracting.
In 1992, the business had grown, so they expanded to a new location to better serve the public.
In 1994 Charles Surber, their son, started working within the business after 4 years in the U.S. Army. Charles focused on growing the business through outside sales and new marketing strategies.
By 1995, the company had added more employees, and started specializing in exterior remodeling, without giving up the focus on reducing energy consumption.
By 1996, they specialized in high end vinyl replacement windows, steel and fiberglass entrance doors, steel security doors, insulated vinyl siding, and 4 season sunrooms.
In 1998, the business was awarded the Bullseye award from their window manufacturer, for continued sales growth and exceptional service. That same year, Surber’s was the 11th recognized replacement Window Company in the United States to be an Energy Star certified dealer.
In 2005, the company grew again, purchasing a larger warehouse, and their second location in Muncie, Indiana.
In 2006, they brought on their first interior specialty products, tubs and showers.
In 2008, they became the Midwest Entry Door Dealer of the year. That same year, as the economy began to shrink, they focused on becoming a debt free business.
Now, in 2020, not much has changed. The family is still focused on bringing the most energy efficient, low maintenance, and professionally installed products to the public.
